Arvagh lies on the border of Longford and Leitrim and is famous as the town where the three provinces of Ulster, Leinster and Connacht meet. The area is very popular with fishermen and lakes such as Hollybank, Gulladoo and Rockfield offer excellent angling all year round. An international fishing tournament takes place in Arvagh every September - see below for details. The Annual Breffni Challenge takes place from Cavan and finishes in Arvagh every August. The challenge involves a run from Cavan to Arvagh with all proceeds going to St. Luke's Hospital in Dublin. Many pubs have music and entertainment throughout the day and into the night to coincide with the run. |
